The Indigo Dreams throw is a gorgeous and versatile textile that you will want to snuggle up to on these cold winter days. This piece looks equally at home as a bed throw (either on its own or layered in winter), picnic blanket or throw for the lounge.
- 2.05m x 1.25m
- 100% cotton
Method of production: In order to achieve this gorgeous design, the first step is to naturally dye the cotton threads using a resist dyeing technique. The threads are tied in such a way that when they are dyed the areas that have been tied are resistant to the colour staining process. After the dyeing process, which utilises all natural dyes, the threads are untied and woven on a backstrap loom. This piece is made from three individual panels that are then stitched together using a thick ronda stitch. To complete the piece, the Indigo Dreams throw has handcrafted tassels.
Duration: Approximately 1 week to create.
The artisan: The Indigo Dreams throw is the work of the Chinimaya Women's co-operative in Guatemala which currently has 34 active members. The collective utilises all natural dyes in the creation of their beautiful products. In this case the deep navy colouring is achieved by utilising tree bark.
Care instructions: A cold, gentle machine wash is recommended.
Due to the nature of handmade, products may have slight imperfections or vary slightly from images pictured on this website.
